  1. On the other hand, if anything happens to the internet, I'm fucked.

I really don't watch that much television - and the television I DO watch is viewed exclusively over the internet. So, I really haven't been too concerned about the Writers' Strike. The only shows in my current lineup that I'm really going to miss until they resume are Pushing Daisies and The Office. Most of the shows I really love are British and totally unaffected by the strike, thank god.

Over Thanksgiving break I was introduced to the absolutely hysterical Never Mind the Buzzcocks, a musical game show slash comedy that absolutely had me rolling in my chair. It certainly didn't hurt that Noel Fielding (Richmond from The IT Crowd) appeared on the first episode I saw (<3). This clip, from Series 20, Episode 2, contains Simon Amstell near-harassing Jermaine Jackson about the bizarre Jackson family as well as a most excellent Intros round where David Cross and Noel Fielding perform David Bowie's Let's Dance and Beck's New Pollution, and Phill Jupitus and Jermaine Jackson perform Martha and the Vandellas' Heat Wave and Prodigy's Breathe - with their mouths only. Check it out:

With stuff like this around, it's no wonder I'm not worried about the strike.

Also for your viewing pleasure: see the entire episode by watching Part 1 and Part 3 of s20e02.

Love this! Why can't we have shows like this rather than "Don't Forget the Lyrics" which totally blows.

Aaahaahahahahaa!!!! That's brilliant! How come all the shows in the USA suck but Brits get all the good TV?

      I must be pretty shallow.

I haven't been paying any attention to this strike until I read your post and then scrolled down the list of shows with writers on strike- Smallville and the Simpsons are on it. Damn.

Why couldn't the strike have been limited to only the writers of the show House? Better yet, the entire staff at CMT :)

I don't know why our TV sucks so bad, but I thank god for the internet every single day. My morning prayers go out to the broadband gods.

Good point, Elvis. Perhaps Hawkgirl and Batman could make this a reality?
