  1. Just FYI

Tumbleweeds are the greatest thing ever. I'm going to bring some home with me if I can.

      True story.

I just slept for like 18 hours. lol

Now I'm getting ready to plow through all those badass photos!

So, was I right? Did the airport rock your world?

Oh, and you left just before a major family cocaine bust in Springville. A sister of a friend of mine and her husband were busted for trafficking shitloads of coke through their home. When cops arrived, they found piles of cocaine sitting out where their 4 year old kid could have gotten to them. They're in deep, deep kim chee now.

And folks say nothing exciting happens in Utah.

Well, lemme put it this way: I stopped at four airports on the way home: SLC, LAX, Atlanta, and Pitt. SLC was definitely the cleanest and nicest one out of all three of them, not to mention the little russian guy who checked me in was super nice and friendly (he told me I was too pretty to be a social worker, right before he signed me up for some frequent flyer shit that entailed perks which he applied immediately to the flight I was getting ready to hop on).
Of course Pitt is nice, too. Los Angeles is pretty at night from above, but I wasn't terribly impressed with LAX and Atlanta, well... I rolled into ATL at 8:30 after having been flying (and waiting in LAX) since 9:00 PM the night before. It was slightly better than LAX but not by much.

I rolled into the driveway at 6:00 pm the next day, set my shit down, and promptly slept for about 16 hours. lol

It was a great trip, though. I took approximately 500 photos which, at some point, will make it to a post. There was lots of epic cactus action (cheers, Joe), I manhandled a tumbleweed, and we did the crap out of the general Moab/Canyonlands/Arches area. We had what might possibly be the world's most questionable service ever in a Burger King in Green River, an awesome meal at Tucano's in SLC, and we even got to see that synchronized fountain thing (the olympic memorial one) which was pretty freakin' awesome. Good times!

And, you know, I guess drugs are cool as long as it's not caffeine... or something. I won't lie, Utah confuses me in many respects, that being one of them.

You have no idea how weird it is hearing (reading?) you describe the place I lived for 12 years. "Jenny + Utah = nope, won't happen" in my feeble brain.

I guess it would be similar to me emailing you from Portland describing the nasty can of tuna your co-worker cracked open on Friday just before jamming his penis in the laser printer, or some other shit like that.

You didn't happen to drive by my old house, did you? :)

Oh, and as for contradictions in Utah culture... Even after all the time I lived there, that place still confuses me.

Hah, I don't know, maybe! Where's your old house? lol

Yeah, I can imagine... probably just about as strange as it would be if you came to my corner of WV. Although you will probably never have to help anyone move here, no doubt. :D
