  1. It's hard to believe, but I've had a life lately.

Really, I have.... hence the sporadic posting of late.

We spent the weekend in New Jersey visiting family. I didn't want to drive, so Mr. Ville and I rode with the rest of the family in my mom's minivan. On the bright side, I got to spend the entire five hour (one way) trip listening to my iTunes library at full volume and sleeping stretched out on the back row of seats...

On the other hand, I now have whiplash from my mom's inability to EASE on a goddamned brake pedal, or to GRADUALLY turn a steering wheel. (Okay, maybe not full-on actual whiplash, but I didn't come out of that ride unscathed, I assure you.)

Anyway: even more surprisingly, I'm going to continue having a life this week, so posts may continue to be in short supply. Tomorrow a few coworkers and I are doing the dinner/drinks/movie thing for my birthday (kind of a low-key celebration since I'm old and responsible now and can't party late on weeknights).

The real party, FYI, will be Friday night in Martinsburg. A few people have already asked me where and when, but I don't have a slightest idea yet. I think I'm putting Rogers in charge. But, feel free to either get a hold of Jenn or I that night if you want to come hang (and honestly, you're not fooling anyone... you know you do).

Saturday I'll be seeing Scott Matthews in Charlottesville. I'd say it was my birthday present to myself, but the show is free - so really, it's Scott Matthews' birthday present to me. (I guess the Wilco tickets I'm buying can be my present to me.) ;)

At some point in this mess of a week, I still have multiple nutsacks to sew, cinnamon rolls to bake, a special project I'm doing for my supervisor, a doctor's appointment, a hair appointment, and a court appearance, not to mention the obligatory weekend lumberjacking.

So... what's everyone else doing this week? And can I talk anyone into taking some of this off my hands? lol

Pub quiz, mix-CD swap night, free movie and chocolate booze at work, cheap book sale, trying to get my shitty music gear to work. I think I'm all good, thanks.

Chocolate booze, huh... ("Some stay dry while others feel the pain"?) lol

      Thanks, Rebecca! :)

Yeah, happy birthday and stuff, m'kay?

As for this week... I'm working day and night on freelance stuff, then on Friday B and I will head off to the beach for the weekend. It's supposed to rain, but that's fine, a day in a different town will do me good.

      M'kay! Thanks. :)

Man, I'm so jealous. I hope you guys have a great time at the beach! Pics!!

      Happy Birthday!

Nice pic, by the way. What's with the shirt slipping off of one shoulder? Were you channeling Jennifer Beals? Did you have an Irene Cara tune on the iPod? Was there a Michael Sembello concert in Jersey that I was unaware of? Was Laura Branigan the opening act?

And in case you were curious, the answer is yes. I can go on all day with the "Flashdance" references. Are you a steeltown girl on a Saturday night? Are you dancing for your life?...

To answer your questions, yes, no, probably, probably, absolutely, and hell yeah.

Hey, look... I was taking my passion, and making it happen.

It just so happens that my passion is shirts with ill-fitting sleeves... or disproportionately small shoulders. Perhaps both.

I swear to you, when I was younger I thought the line in that song was, "Take your pants off...And make it happen."

Sing it to yourself. It actually makes the song alot more enjoyable.

Too bad we can't see your legwarmers in that pic.

Laura Branigan's dead. She couldn't have been the opening act unless you were at a zombie jamboree. ;-)

      ...

No. Not touching that one with ANY length of pole.

      (But I *will* laugh hysterically.)

I might show a little shoulder now and then, but showing my legwarmers? As if.
