They say everyone should drive across the country at least once, or so I'm told - and after this trip, I have to agree. It was long, and Kansas tested my will to live, and I could probably have slept a little more than I did, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It was awesome. One word: TUMBLEWEEDS.
First, some introductions:

My co-pilot, Joe (or, well, I guess I was Joe's co-pilot, really). Anyway, I've know Joe since he was a kid. Joe had to move himself out to Utah, stat, to set up shop with his fiance, Jenn. That's where I came in: I had vacation time that needed to be used soon, I had a valid driver's license, I didn't mind doing all that driving to see about a million places I'd never been before, and by god, I had a Nikon D50, and I (mostly) knew how to use it.
This is Joe's Rubicon, which we drove out to Utah. It's pretty badass.

We dropped my car off at Pittsburgh Airport, loaded my shit into the Jeep, hopped on I-70, and headed west.
Ohio:

Have Nikon, will travel.

Indiana: I quite liked the state itself; the section we drove through was nice... lots of farmland, rural, pretty... but Indianans, I could do without. They're growing their own brand of special out there. True story.

I wish we had more of Missouri, because I really liked this state quite a bit. Unfortunately, we drove through at night... hence...

It looks like y'all took some tracer fire in that last photo. Fer neat!
That was my attempt to photograph the St. Louis arch at 2:00 AM from a moving vehicle on the I-70. It didn't quite work out, but it is a neat photo nonetheless.
I can't emphasize enough how incredible that was. I'm tempted to drive back to St. Louis at night just to get some proper photos to show y'all. One of these days, I just might. It was that awesome.
Don't forget that I had to wake you up to see it - you may not have been 100% coherent at the time of the picture taking. ;)
Yeah, let's see: I'd been awake for about 18 hours (approximately 13 of them spent driving, between my car and the jeep), and I'd *just* finally drifted off right before you woke me up... so... yeah. I was completely out of it. :)
I know I've said this a bunch of times already, but seriously, thank you for waking me up. I'm so glad I got to see that.
