So last weekend I spent an entire afternoon/evening making a batch of apple pies from scratch. (Along with wood-splitting, apple-pie-baking also goes on here all fall long.)

This is quite possibly the best apple pie recipe in existence - but, it's entirely from scratch, and not for beginners. However, if you think you have what it takes, check out the recipe plus my liner notes and prepare yourself for the inevitable "Can you make another one? Please?"

Hot damn!!! Feel free to send one of these my way :D
Is it more of a "serve with a slice of uber-sharp cheddar" or more of a "serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream" pie?
Jackie - I really doubt you would want to eat the mess that would undoubtedly greet you when you opened your mailbox. ;)
CJ - I personally prefer ice cream... but I'm sure cheddar would be tasty too. Heck, it's great plain! :)
Man, what I could do with that pie...
Count me in for ice cream. I know I'm pretty narrow minded and all, but I can't even try to imagine cheddar (sharp cheddar?) cheese on a delicious looking apple pie like that.
Sorry, Chris.
Rev. Drinkmo: Your Grace, it isn't served on the pie, but rather with it. You eat a couple bites of the pie, then take a nibble or two of cheese. The flavors interact well when taken alternately and the cheese also acts to cleanse the palate, much like pickled ginger with sushi or Cherry Coke with shots of bourbon.
*drools*
Sorry, Chris. I still can't dig it.
Cheese and pie. Well hell, I promise you I will try it sometime if I get the chance and I'll let you know what I think.
TFG - Please don't give my husband ideas. They take too much time and effort. lol
I find the idea of cheese with pie kind of strange, too, but I know people do it, so it must be all right.
Guess I'm gonna have to try it too!
