  1. I'm feeling festive, dammit...

So I'm celebrating another important ascension - the long-overdue resurrection of Erik's blog - by participating in the Mystery Meme.

    I like this one because:

    1. It might have been 10 Things About Me, maybe not. I like the ambiguity.
    2. No lame tagging necessary, huzzah!
    3. I'm trying to continue my streak of posts no one will give a rat's ass about.

    So...

    1. I talk in my sleep on occasion - but not in any particular language, apparently. According to Mr. Ville, he hasn't been able to understand a single word of it, not even once.

    2. I am incredibly picky about lighting. I can't really tell you why I'm so particular about it... I just am.

    3. I hate bright lights and avoid them whenever possible. My office has fluorescent lighting, but I don't use it - it's lit exclusively with strings of christmas lights and a small army of carefully hoarded desk lamps. The blinds are always closed because I also have an aversion to bright sunlight (if I sit around in bright afternoon sunlight too long, it makes me incredibly sleepy - a huge inconvenience at times).

    4. I love those lights they use on football fields, and also those orange-ish lights used on buildings at night. I also like softer sunlight, around sunset and sunrise.

    5. 3 and 4 sound a bit mental, now that I read them back. Please don't have me committed. I have so much left to give.

    6. I can't drink cola of any kind; the taste of it makes me ill. I've never, even in my most thirsty and desperate moments, been able to stomach more than a sip. No coke, no pepsi, no nothing. I don't get how people drink that stuff.

    7. My wedding band is too big for my ring finger, so I wear it on my middle finger - the only one it won't fall off of. I could have it resized, but it's a lot less effort (and more amusing) this way.

    8. My favorite colors are blue and green...

    9. But I wear a hell of a lot of black - I mean, a LOT - sometimes head-to-toe.

    10. You'd be surprised how many people are personally offended by that, as if it's any of their concern, or as if I care. My mother has been complaining about it since I was old enough to pick out my own clothes. To shut her up, I occasionally picked out things that were gray, or dark blue - but I only humor her because she's my mother. My sister has referred to me as "the (wo)man in black," and my physical therapists asked if I owned anything that WASN'T black. More recently, a much-older coworker (who was apparently widowed within the past couple of years) made a comment about how SHE doesn't wear too much black anymore lest people think she's still in mourning, with a disapproving look in my direction. I was wearing my favorite black shirt, long black pants, black socks, black shoes, and even black glasses. The next day, oddly enough, I wore a black dress with black heels.

Here's another one: I love having my hair played with. I'll sit still as long as someone is willing to brush it, or run their fingers through it. I guess this has a lot to do with the fact that it's really, really long, maybe. I dunno.

And another one (I keep thinking of more things to add, sorry): I find it much harder to accomplish anything if I don't have music playing. So at any given time during the day, I most likely have something cranked up to full volume. I take my laptop to the office and play out of my iTunes library all day long; on the way to and from work, I run my iPod through the car stereo; when I'm doing housework at home, I usually hook up external speakers to my laptop. Mr. Ville, who has what may possibly be the world's worst taste in music, *hates* this.
